Trent Broughten grew up with Ellie--kind of. He knew her a little when they were younger, but once they hit fifth grade, they lost contact with each other. After Ellie finds the notebook (that leads to the whole mystery), though, Trent calls her up out of the blue and says hi. He joins the group (Ellie, Drew, Trey, and Sammie), and gets along with everyone although Trey doesn't really warm up to Trent.

When I think of Trent I think, "There's a fine line between courage and stupidity." I don't mean to be mean, but Trent loves the spot light. He loves success. And so he'll do things that seem brave to other people, but really, the things he does are stupid. As Trey once said,

"Trent! What are doing? You almost got us killed. If you want to go and risk your life, fine--but don't get the rest of us mixed up in it."

So sometimes, Trent is a really sweet guy. But other times, he's just trying to be a hero. He's a fun character, and everyone likes him. Except Trey. There's just something that Trey doesn't like about him. I'll have another character soon!

Lost Note, Lost Mind

Monday, November 29, 2010

Thanksgiving has come and gone. My Christmas lights are up outside. I didn't break any bulbs this year, but my fingers were frozen and I didn't have a good time. But our house looks nice, and it was worth it...I guess.

I'm kind of very distressed. I lost one of the songs that I wrote. I am sure that I put it in my writing chest (it's the inside of my window seat), but I practically tore it apart, and I cannot find it anywhere. It's not enough to say that I'm really upset. Where in the world could it be?! I keep praying I'll find it. But if I don't...well, then, I guess I'll have to try and rewrite it.

Well, I've got to go. My mom is sick and so I have to make Scout (my little sis) supper. Whoa, it's 7:16--I guess I should of made Scout's soup sooner (that's somewhat of a tongue twister) . Have a great week. Merry Christmas!

My Heart Will Go On

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

One song I love is My Heart Will Go On. I've never seen the movie that it comes from (Titanic), but I've heard this song before and it is one of my favorites. It's a tearjerker, in a way. I really love it. So when I was putting music on my blog, I knew that I had to put this song on. And wouldn't you know it, the song was on there, with parts from Peter Pan (one of my favorite movies) with it. So why don't you scroll down to my music player and watch My Heart Will Go On with Peter Pan and Wendy Darling? Maybe you'll fall in love with the song like I did. If you've seen the movie Peter Pan, then you'll appreciate it more. Now go and enjoy this beautiful song.

Wishing to Go Back

Monday, November 22, 2010

Thanksgiving is on Thursday and I can't believe it! It's going to be so fun, I'm sure. Everything is going to smell amazing, everything is going to taste amazing, and I'll get to be with my family. I'm so thankful for my family. God has truly blessed me! They all love me, and I love them. I know that I couldn't ask for a better family. Where I would be without them, I'm not sure. But I don't want to find out.

Our laptop is awesome. It has Windows 7, and a built in webcam. This webcam is so cool. I love to play around with it--you know, experiment. It's a lot of fun.

I feel so busy. Everything is crazy, now that I'm in high school. And with Christmas coming, the craziness has soared higher. I've got pictures to take, pictures to load on to my computer, rehearsals with Morgan and Bethanie (plus songs to write and edit), and Christmas presents to buy. Aaaaa! That's what I feel like yelling half the time. Things are flying by so fast. I can't believe that just two years ago, I wanted the year to hurry up and move on. Now I'm praying that it will slow down. It's kind of funny, isn't it? You're whole childhood, the years go slow, and then once you're older (like in your teens--which I guess is still part of childhood) you want to go back. I know I do. I want to be--oh, say eight again. When everything seemed perfect. There was no such thing as evil then; all I knew was that life was good. Now I'm older and I know that there is such a thing as evil. Now I wish that I could go back--for just one day--and be little again, playing house with the neighbor kids, or being in charge of the Meadows Detective Agency. But I can't go back. All I have are memories--and they'll last me a lifetime. Sometimes I'll burst into laughter when I remember all the crazy stuff we did. Oh, I'd go back though. I'd give anything to go back.

Okay, I'll stop venting now. In fact, I'll get off. Thanks for listening! And enjoy these days while they're here!

Guess What?

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

I am writing this post from our new laptop! I'll show you pictures later. I'm so excited. I feel so happy. It's small, and lightweight, and...oh, it's so hard to explain the ecstasy I'm in! I know, big deal, right? Well, to me--a small town girl--it is. And I'm very happy (I'm sorry, I've used that phrase before). I guess I better go. Have a good day!

What I Love About Christmas

Friday, November 12, 2010

Christmas is in 43 days. Think about it. So, what do you want? Tell me, I want to know. What's your favorite thing about Christmas? Leave a comment. My favorite thing about Christmas is being with family. I love the music, and the spirit in the air, but I love being with my family. On Christmas Eve, I go to my Mee-Mee's house--and that's really fun. On Christmas day, we go to my Grandma's. I remember fighting with the cousins over a seat on the couch; now, I have been promoted. I automatically get a place to sit. We flip through the TV channels, and then we go eat. That in itself is awesome. I love fudge! After that, we open presents; then we go watch more TV. And the whole time, we're taking pictures of each other, and joking around.

That's what I love about Christmas--being with my family. And friends. So, now you know one of the reasons I love Christmas. Let me know why you like it.

Trey King

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

Here's my next character in my mystery. I've finally come up for a name with it; how long I'll keep that name, I don't know. But here it is: 499 Cherry St. I can't tell you why I named it that, because it might give some things away. But enough of that; I want to introduce you to Trey Winston King.

Full Name: Trey Winston King
Meaning of Name: Three from Wina's Town
Nickname: Trey.
Birth Place: Ridley Park, Pa
Age: 16
Nationality: American
Hair Color: Light brown/dirt blond.
Hair Style: Short; parted on the right side; combed; straight.
Shape and Features of Face: Face is round; eyes that seem to stare into your soul.
Eye Color: Deep blue--sometimes there's a gleam in them.
Skin Tone: Almost tan.
Scars or Distinguishing Marks: None.
Disabilities: None.
Build or Body Type: Tall and thin; he's very strong, but not many people know it.
Height: 5'11"
Gestures: He has a way a staring slow and deliberately--kind of hard to explain.
Weakness: Having someone he loves in danger. He'll do crazy things because of it.
Special Abilities or Powers:None.
Bad Habits: He has a hard time trusting people.
Good Habits: When everything goes wrong, he's there, encouraging you.
Best Characteristic: He's sweet and charming.
Worst Characteristic: He's skeptical of people like Ellie, who do crazy things all the time.
Proud of: There's not much that Trey is proud of; he's not ashamed of anything, either.
Embarrassed by: Nothing; he won't do something completely crazy, though.
Driving Style: Reckless and inexperienced.
Strong Points: He's very trustworthy.
Temperament: He's sweet, even when he's not trying to be.
Attitude: He's kind of shy, but certain things can make him come out of his shell.
Weakness: When people he loves are in danger.
Fears: That his best friend will be hurt.
Phobias: None.
Feels Vulnerable When: Things start to get sentimental.
Motivation: Trying to make his friends happy.
Introvert or Extrovert: Introvert. Sometimes extrovert.
Optimist or Pessimist: In between.
Greatest Want: I can't tell you, it will ruin the story.
Greatest Need: To be a little more crazy--kind of like Ellie.

Trey is Drew's younger brother, and he's a lot different than Ellie. He's also hard to describe. Trey is kind of shy and he doesn't understand how his friends can rush into a mystery; it's crazy! Trey would rather sit and think over all the pros and cons of everything he does. And yet, in the beginning of the book, after he has said that there is no mystery, he calls the FBI. Trey's a very complex person.

Trey does the unexpected all the time. Just when you think he's going to do something, he does something completely unrelated to what you thought he was going to do. He's sweet, and charming, but you can't help wish that he was a little crazier. He's not a coward--no, don't ever think that! He just likes to think things over. You start to forgive him when everything goes wrong and he's right there, encouraging everybody. Trey is the most mature person in the whole book.

That's really all I can say to let you know about Trey. There's so much more that everyone should know about him, but it would ruin the story; plus, as I said before, he's a complex character. So much so that sometimes it's hard for me to figure him out. So, today, I think that I'm going to sit down and get to know him. Because even the author of a book, needs to understand their characters--more than the reader. Makes sense, right? Thanks for reading!

A New Look

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Yes, I've changed my blog. I wanted something that represented my theme. The pink was really pretty, but my blogs name is "Em's Alpine Path"--an alpine path would be a soft white, or blue. So, I changed the look. I might be changing other things--like my blog name. So stay tuned. I'll try to post more; things have been crazy and I haven't had the time. My computer is sooo slow. I'm hoping that when Christmas comes, a new computer will, too. Goodbye, Blogger Buddies!
