The Saga

Monday, March 26, 2012

It's not an allegory (though, I can see that it might be headed there). It's not a fantasty or sci-fi.

But the Rebel saga is a little deeper than a story. It's my way of disagreeing with how things are being run and what's wrong in America. It's the story of a brotherhood. It's a story of Rebels who join together to capture back their country, their America.

After I had a chance to really think and sort out some of my ideas (believe me, they aren't all sorted out, even now!!!), when I get down to the core of my story, I realized that it's very much like a modern Robin Hood (I didn't mean it to be that why, honest--I started the book before I watched Robin Hood). It's about good vs. evil. It's about a band of people who stand up against a corrupt government.

The Rebels in the story have an army of about... Well, I haven't quite decided on the numbers yet :) But in the large army of Rebels, there is a smaller group--a special fighting force. It's called the Kearney (which is an Irish surname that means "fighting group" hehe). It's lead by Vince Mason (the main character's cousin). Anyway, the saga mainly follows the Kearney's story :)

Here's a list of all the important characters.

And an excerpt....

Brynn threw a rock onto the ice.
"What are you so steamed about?"
Brynn knew it was only Riley. Why should he be so concerned about her?
"Vince blew me off. It isn't fair. Everyone gets their chance to shine. Everyone but me." Brynn threw one more rock. It broke the ice and sent echos into the rest of the woods.
"Sure it isn't fair. But life is a total let down." Riley picked up a rock and joined Brynn in throwing things onto the ice.
"I guess. Vince would say that's very pessimistic, though."
Riley shook his head. "In my opinion, Vince is an optimist. Which it ten times worse than a pessimist."
Brynn dropped her rock and stared at Riley. "Now how does that work?"
"Because when you're an optimist, you expect something good to happen. So when a tragedy comes, you're left heartbroken. A pessimist, though, always expects the worst, so when tragedy strikes, you aren't as heartbroken. And when something good happens, it's much more enjoyable since it's a surprise."
"I see your point," Brynn said. "But Vince is fine just the way he is."
"He's your cousin; I didn't expect you to agree with me."
Brynn sat down. "I do agree with you somewhat. I only said--"
"Let's not fight, Brynn. Alright?"
"Alright."
Riley sat down oppisite Brynn. They both stared out over the ice.

This story is going to be so fun to write. I just want to jump up and down and clap my hands. =D heehee

Dream

I had a Robin Hood marathon... Awesomeness.....

Anyway, it's been a beautiful week. The weather has been amazing the days were all so beautiful (which I guess falls under amazing. heehee). All in all, the week had a lot of scope for the imagination.

Imagining and dreaming go hand and hand; they are both so dangerous. And yet without them, life would be so dull. It wouldn't really be life at all, no would it?

Dreaming makes the gray days better.

Ever cloud has a silver lining.

Yes, I wish on stars. Because it's good to dream.

I dream because anything is possible.

Always dream. Always look for the butterflies and castles in the clouds.

Never stop hoping that something good is going to happen.

Dream. Dream no matter what.

When We Become Silent

Now that I'm [somewhat] working on Beginning of the End, I am stocking up on quotes that are... well, relatable... from the "Rebel's" point of view. And the above quotes ^^ are so cool :)

Anyway... this weekend, two of my friends are coming over and we plan on having a Robin Hood marathon. ;) Ooooohhhh yeeeaaaaah......

That's all for now. I need to get my rest---Ashlyn Sound has an open practice tomorrow and I don't want to look half-dead due to lack of sleep =D. So night, all.

Oh! And Happy Birthday to Morgan, one of my bestest, bestest friends!!!!!!!!! She's 16!!!!!

Meet Allie

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

Yesterday was an amazing day. I ate lasanga and homemade bread for dinner.
I had Death by Chocolate cake for dessert.
And I got a car.

Yesterday was awesome.
Yesterday was beyong awesome.
Yesterday... was epic.

My car--has a sunroof!!!! [Insert yell]

After school, I ran outside (it was a bee-yew-ti-ful day, was it not?) and just sat in the driver's seat,
listening to the radio and enjoying the day.

I finally have a key to put on my key-chain :))))

I decided to name my car Allie. 1) because it just seems like a girl-type of personality. 2) because Allie
is a feminised version of Allan.... as in Allan a Dale.... yeah.... moving on.... ;)

This is so blurry.... sorry.

The speedometer and such =D

I just about died when my grandparents gave me the car.

I'm so happy it's not even funny.

So I would say that this is may just be the best birthday present I've ever got!! ;)

Enter Ellie (aka Ellie Belle)
She's a sweet little Cavapoo :) Although, I highly doubt that Jane thinks so.
(Ellie is my Mee-Mee's pupp, Jane is Aunt Kim's dog)

(One of my new favorite Michael Buble songs)

Every Story...

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

It's the classic beginning. There's just something magical about the words "Once Upon a Time." Maybe it's because those words usually lead to a brave hero triumphing over an evil dragon and riding off into the sunset with a damsel in distress. But no matter how nice "once upon a time sounds"... It's just a little worn out. You can't start stories with that anymore.

It's true---and it's also true that you have no idea just how exactly hard it is to write the beginning of a story. The beginning is possibly the most important part of the story. Why? Because the beginning makes the reader decide whether or not the book is worth reading. The beginning makes the reader ask, "why should I go on reading this?" The beginning is very much like a movie preview, in the way that it should draw in the reader. And trust me--it ain't easy.

As I edit Rebel Yell and prepare to start work on Beginning of the End (which is the 1st book in my Rebel Saga), I'm realizing how important and hard it is to write the beginning. It's frustrating, too. And yet, it's so fun!!! I'm getting really excited about Beginning of the End: remember how I said that I was having some difficult in planning out my story? Well, I think I've overcome that :) I'm pretty excited. In fact... Maybe... Would you mind if I shared some of my ideas with you? Really??? Well I'm going to make you read them anyway.
:p

Quotes for You

Sunday, March 4, 2012

Yesterday was amazing. My cousin Jacob came over and we made a campfire, roasted hot-dogs and had Cookie S'mores (which are so amazingly beyond-awesome and indescribable that I'm not even going to try).

I've been enjoying my Michael Buble CD so much :)

[That was the random fact for today :)) ]

Anyway, I've decided to share with you some of my photoshop creations. In the form of quotes. What would I do without quotes?

Also........ This is an epic soundtrack that is already on my music player.... But turn off my music player anyway and listen to this because this song makes me want to do a ton of flips and knock out some bad guys ;) It makes me feel like I could take on the world. And it's just awesome. So please. Listen to it. You'll be happy. And guess what? It's from Robin Hood ;) *evil smile* I love it!!!

Yes... Most of these quotes are from Robin Hood. Don't judge me.
Because I obviously think that these are cool quotes.
